What a crazy week and a half this has been, talking with Band Perry, Sha Na Na, Bret Michaels, Josh Turner, Lonestar, a Disney princess and, whew.
Time for fun, starting with CelebrateErie tonight. Weather looks good, so why not. I’m anxious to hear what Erie’s all stars will do with vintage Woodstock material, and Sha Na Na should be fun. Just saw “American Graffiti” again a few weeks ago and that has me in the right mind set to catch some vintage 1950s and 1960s tunes.
Later tonight, Buffalo’s Aqueous plays at Crooked I. If you haven’t seen them yet, now’s the time. They’re a dazzling jam band that takes you up, then lifts you higher. They were staggering at Chaffee Gathering, and part of the fun is, you never know what they’ll toss in. They did some Smashing Pumpkins there, completely out of the blue and it was, well, smashing. I love this band. They’re booked for New Year’s Eve at CI too, and will do a set of Radiohead.
I’m thrilled that Crooked I has booked a show with Donna the Buffalo. Look for them to pull in on Black Friday, Nov 22.
If you love Eric Clapton, check out blues guitarist Tom Principato and his band on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Romolo Chocolates. This guy is amazing. He was a favorite at Docksider years ago, then stayed out of Erie for awhile. He returned to do Romolos in 2011 and his chops are just as staggering, but he also adds elements of New Orleans, R&B and funk to his easygoing style.
