Iconic punk band Black Flag, which broke up in 1986, has reformed with founder Greg Ginn on guitar and vocalist Ron Reyes.
Even better: The group will play Erie during its comeback tour.
Look for Black Flag, and special guest Good for You — formed by Ginn and Mike Vallely (the frontman of Revolution Mother, Mike V and the Rats, and a former skateboarder – on June 11 at the Crooked I.
Tickets are $25 advance. They will go on sale Friday at noon at blackflagerie.eventbrite.com.
Black Flag will also release a new album later in 2013.
Other former members of Black Flag, including Keith Morris (later of Circle Jerks), bassist Chuck Dukowksi, guitarist-singer Dez Cadena (a member of the Misfits the past 12 years) and drummer Bill Stevenson, are also touring in 2013. They are calling themselves Flag.
For the record, Henry Rollins isn’t part of either group.

The Rolling Stones will announce their 18-date North American tour on Wednesday according to numerous reports, including Rolling Stone. Stonesnews.com claims it has a “first draft” of tour dates. If it’s accurate, the Stones will include Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on the tour. But that’s certainly nothing official; we won’t know for sure until tomorrow.

Space was tight for Thursday’s Showcase, so see below for on-sale dates for just-announced shows, including three area dates for the Maroon 5/Kelly Clarkson tour.

Mayer, with special guest Phillip Phillips, will play Aug. 6 at Blossom Music Center near Cleveland; Aug. 13 at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center near Buffalo; and on Aug. 25 at First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown.

Chautauqua Institution has booked the last show for its 2013 amphitheater season. Garrison Keillor will appear with “A Prairie Home Companion” during its “Radio Romance” tour on Aug. 2.
Tickets will go on sale April 1, the same day as every other Chautauqua amphitheater special.

Pollstar reports that AEG Live will present an 18-date Rolling Stones’ U.S. tour in May and June for the band’s 50th anniversary. The touring industry web site says cities are still being finalized but will likely be announced in early April. The band will play multiple dates in each city. Will Cleveland be one of them, considering a major Stones’ exhibit opens in May at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum?
We should find out soon.

This just in: The Eagles will play two area dates this summer for their “History of the Eagles” tour. They hit Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena on July 9 and Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on July 23. Tickets for the Steel City date will go on sale March 28 at Ticketmaster and by phone (800) 745-3000. They’ll go on sale March 28 at www.theqarena.com and (888) 894-9424 for the Cleveland show.

Good news for Talking Heads’ fans, like me. Start Making Sense, the excellent Heads’ tribute band that played Crooked I in July 2012, will return on June 29. Ironically, David Byrne plays Pittsburgh the following night with St. Vincent.

Buffalo’s M&T Bank Broadway Series — which is booked by Al Nocciolino, who also does Erie’s Broadway series — has announced its 2013-14 lineup: “Ghost the Musical” (Oct 15-20); “War Horse” (Nov. 12-17); “Dr. Sesuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas the Musical” (Dec. 17-22); “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” (March 11-16); “Once” (March 25-30); and “Evita” (June 10-15). Erie’s season probably won’t be announced until next month, after the final 2012-13 show (“Rock of Ages”) takes place.

Cleveland’s Key Bank Broadway Series was also just announced: “Sleeping Beauty” (Oct. 1-13, Palace Theatre); “Once” (Nov. 12-14, Palace); “Wicked” (Dec. 4-Jan. 5, State Theatre); “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” (Feb. 4-16, Palace); “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” (March 4-16, Palace); “Flashdance” (April 1-13, Palace); and “Jersey Boys”(May 6-18, State). Nova Free Jazz Trio will play tonight at 9 at Scotty’s, 301 German St.
The group includes bassist Dick Thompson, tenor saxophone player Rob Schlaudecker and drummer Nick “Tito” Ronzitti. The group drew a huge crowd in January for its show at PACA; Scotty’s heritage as a jazz venue should ensure the perfect atmosphere for adventurous jazz and music lovers tonight.
Thompson told John Chacona in January that he loves playing free jazz.
“This is my first time playing in a free jazz situation where I don’t have to do anything specific, and I’m enjoying it a lot,” he said.
Admission is $3.

The show will be at the Warner on May 15. It goes on sale March 21; ticket prices will be announced later.

Erie Insurance Arena has confirmed that country singers Justin Moore and Dustin Lynch will team up for an April 18 show.
Tickets are $39.75 and $25.75. They will go on sale March 8 at the Warner Theatre box office, by phone at 452-4857 and online at www.erieevents.com.
Moore set the table for a strong career with his debut album, which featured “Small Town USA.” But he raised the bar with the follow-up “Outlaws Like Me,” which spawned the No. 1 singles “If Heaven’t Wasn’t So Far Away” and “Til My Last Day.” He opened for Blake Shelton in early 2012 at Tullio Arena; now he’s a headliner.
Lynch made a splash with “Cowboys and Angels” from his debut album, which also hit No 1. The song racked up more than six million views on YouTube. His latest single is “She Cranks My Tractor.”
Jon Pardi will open.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will play Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on June 20. Tickets will go on sale March 15.
Also, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band has added a stop at Bryce Jordan Arena in State College on May 2. Tickets ($75) go on sale March 9 at Ticketmaster.

Bob Dylan and Dawes will head out on tour together. THe tour hits the University of Buffalo’s Alumni Arena on april 5 and Akron’s EJ Thomas Hall on April 19. I don’t have on-sale dates yet for those.

Here is a list of just announced shows, and concerts coming up within the next week. We had no space for them in Thursday’s Showcase.
Before that, a reminder: One-man band phenom Zach Deputy returns to Crooked I on Saturday with special guest Funktapuss. We featured Deputy in Showcase the last time he played; I caught the show and he was stellar. Don’t miss him if you’re out on Saturday.
The Rolling Stones will be feted in a new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exhibit that opens May 24. The large-scale look at the band, which arrives during their 50th anniversary, will take up 2 1/2 floors and include never-before-displayed items. The rock hall will augment it with assorted lectures and films during its run through March 2014.
Mr. Smalls Theatre near Pittsburgh will celebrate its 10th anniversary in May and June with some special shows. So far, the following are booked: The Startling Line and Punchline (June 2, on sale March 9): Bloc Party (June 1); Lotus (June 7-8); Foals, Surfer Bloode (June 9) and Alt-J (June 10.). More acts will be announced later for May 29-31, June 3-6 and June 11-15.
