Tuesday’s best news for the Erie SeaWolves was after their game against Bowie.
The Baysox severed the SeaWolves’ five-game winning streak with an easy 8-1 victory at Jerry Uht Park. Erie ended a 21-inning scoreless drought at home, but still slipped back even at 34-34.
The SeaWolves’ large loss was soothed by the postgame announcement that Florida State League All-Star reliever Bruce Rondon will be called up from Single-A Lakeland. Erie manager Chris Cron said that Rondon, whose 15 saves were second overall in that league, is expected to take over as the team’s closer.

Brandon Waring drove in four runs for Bowie (32-36), which included his fourth home run off Erie pitching this season. Waring also lined a two-run double to account for half of the Baysox’s offense.
Michael Rockett scored Erie’s lone run in the third. Rockett’s single was one of the hosts’ six hits, with Tony Plagman good for two singles.
