Pirates’ lineup set for opener

The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park Monday in the season opener. The team solidified its 25-man roster this week.

Here’s a look at the Pirates’ projected opening day lineup:

Starting lineup: LF Starling Marte, C Russell Martin, CF Andrew McCutchen, 3B Pedro Alvarez, 2B Neil Walker, 1B Gaby Sanchez, RF Travis Snider, SS Clint Barmes, SP A.J. Burnett

Starting pitchers: Burnett, Wandy Rodriguez, James McDonald, Jonathan Sanchez, Jeff Locke

Relief pitchers: Jason Grilli, Jared Hughes, Mark Melancon, Chris Leroux, Tony Watson, Justin Wilson and Jeanmar Gomez

Bench: C Michael McKenry, SS John McDonald, 2B/3B Josh Harrison, 1B/RF Garrett Jones, LF Jose Tabata

Starter Jeff Karstens  (sore shoulder) and reserve infielder Brandon Inge  (right shoulder bone bruise) are reportedly headed to the disabled list to start the season.
