Erie SeaWolves infielder Brandon Douglas is heading to Triple-A Toledo. Douglas is hitting .297 this season with three doubles and six RBIs for the SeaWolves, including a .307 average over the past four games. He was projected to start in Toledo but was added to the Erie roster out of spring training after Dixon Machado was sent to the disabled list.
Danny Worth left Toledo’s game on Wednesday with a heel injury and could be on his way to the disabled list. Douglas’ call-up could replace Worth on the roster. Lakeland catcher Zach Maggard is being sent to Erie to replace Douglas. Maggard is a right-handed catcher that is hitting .105 with 10 strikeouts this season. Maggard will be Erie’s third catcher on the roster with James McCann and Ramon Cabrera seeing time in the starting lineup nearly every day. Maggard will not be in uniform tonight against Trenton.
