Wells can’t catch a break

For the third time this season, former Erie SeaWolves outfielder Casper Wells has been designated for assignment. Wells appeared to have a steady roster spot with the Oakland Athletics but went 0-for-5 in three games since being acquired. Wells was the victim of Yoenis Cespedes returning from the disabled list. Wells was designated for assignment earlier this year by the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. He is available to other teams or could end up in the minor leagues to finally get some consistent playing time.
