Blaine Hardy has been added to the Erie SeaWolves roster to fill in for Robbie Weinhardt. Hardy is a 6-2, 220-pound left-handed reliever that the Detroit Tigers signed right before the season. He spent spring training with Kansas City and was eventually released. Detroit picked up Hardy and he has been in extended spring training for the past month.

Hardy was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 22nd round of the 2008 draft from Lewis-Clark State College. He is 26 years old and has been a solid closer throughout his career. After helping Lewis-Clark State College to the NAIA national championship in 2008, Hardy was tied for ninth in the Pioneer League with four saves in the same year. He started moving up in the Kansas City organization and was ninth in the Texas League in 2011 with eight saves. In five seasons, Hardy is 17-15 with a 3.07 ERA and 32 saves. He has 314 strikeouts to 120 walks and opponents are hitting .244 against him.
