We recently launched our 2011 St Patrick’s Day coverage section.  Follow the Street View team all day Thursday as they take photos, shoot video and tweet from downtown Erie.  We’ll also have a live blog (goerie.com/blogs/streetview), and a live Foursquare checkins map so you can follow the crew around town.

The page also has a lot of useful information.  In addition to the latest news and event listings, we’ve included our interactive downtown map so you can find a place to eat, a place to drink and (if necessary) a place to stay.  We also have a list of bars so you know what time they open and what specials they have.

Check out our  coverage today at GoErie.com/StPattysDay.

We are also very excited to introduce our interactive map of downtown Erie which you can find if you scroll to the bottom of the page.  If you’re coming downtown, it’s a must-see resource to find bars, restaurants, hotels, parking and more.  Visit the page today at GoErie.com/FrozenFour.

GoErie.com Street ViewWe’ve realized that the Street View blog is an insufficient home for all of the content we produce.  Sure, it’s nice but it’s not enough to house the many photo galleries, video, event listings and special event coverage that we do.  Street View has grown over the past few months.  That’s why we’re introducing the new GoErie.com Street View.  We’ll still update the blog too, but the new Street View is now your destination for the latest photo galleries, video, blog posts, event listings, special event coverage and entertainment news.  We even have a form for you to submit your photo opportunities so if you’d like us to cover your event, let us know.  Check out the new GoErie.com Street View today at www.goerie.com/streetview!

You should also check out the Street View Facebook page and GoErie Events on Twitter.

If you’re here, you probably noticed the new design on the GoErie.com frontpage.  Most of the changes are aesthetic but you might notice a few new features if you look closer.  If you take a look at the Latest News, you’ll find today’s Local Obituaries.  You will also see that we’ve segmented our latest photo galleries.  The latest and Street View photo booth galleries are now much easier to find.  We plan on adding (and updating) more features based on your preferences in the future, so stay tuned.

Starting tomorrow (February 4), you will also find the GoErie.com Daily Deal.  If you like Groupon, you’ll love our daily deal.  Check back every day for the best deal in Erie, or click here to sign up for email alerts. Don’t want to receive emails?  You can also check our Facebook page and Twitter account.

Two weeks ago, we celebrated with you for four days at CelebrateErie 2010.  For those of you that haven’t seen our coverage, be sure to check it out here:  www.goerie.com/celebrate.

Part of our participation at the event was the GoErie.com Photo Booth.  This popular feature allowed you to come and have your photo (and in many cases, photos) taken for posting on GoErie.com.

Tomorrow and Sunday, be sure to pick up a copy of the Erie Times-News as we publish several photos from the GoErie.com Photo Booth.   We have included a small version of the page, so you know what to look for in paper.

We will have a new crop of photos for Sunday’s paper, so if you don’t see yourself tomorrow — check out Sunday and maybe you will be a part of our Celebrate Erie coverage.

Starting today and moving forward, we want to let you know more about what we are doing at GoErie.com and some of the new features you will find on this site.

One of the first features we wanted to tell you about is in Sunday’s Erie Times-News.  Each week, we will feature photos submitted by users of GoErie.com.  You can see a sample of what the ad looks like on the right.

When you submit a photo to any of our galleries, your image has a chance of being showcased in the Sunday print edition.  To help ensure that we can properly showcase your great images, the larger you can upload, the better.

A few other things we have added to GoErie recently include:

  • Regional destination pages: Because we understand that you might live in the Erie area, you are interested in our surrounding communities.  We wanted to build a destination on GoErie so you can get a snapshot of the top headlines, sports scores, stats and events going on in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo and Ontario.
  • Community blog roll: Check out our blogs landing page and submit your blog for inclusion on our community blog roll.
  • Databases: I will admit that data seems boring, but take a look at all the information we have available to you through our Data Central.  Here, you can find everything from the Erie Crime Map, to the local Most Wanted fugitives, local public employee salaries, restaurant inspections, past due water bills and more.

There is a lot going on at GoErie.com as we try to build the best community portal for you.  If you have any suggestions for improvements we could make to GoErie, please leave a comment and let us know.

We will keep this blog updated regularly to let you know what’s new and what’s coming on GoErie.
