Great news from Michelee A. Curtze – the sold-out Bay Swim will take place tomorrow at 9 a.m. with 300 swimmers. That’s right — sold ou.
It starts at Presque Isle State Park and ends at the Erie Yacht Club. The idea came up 24 years ago when Pat Davis and Ned Smith looked out on the bay in Erie, Pa., and their dream of a swimmable bay became reality five years ago. For those of us who remember what that bay looked like when we were kids — this is extraordinary. Read Heather Cass’ Lake Erie LifeStyle article about local swimmers who jump in here.
This is Bay Swim V, sponsored by Highmark / Blue Cross / Blue Shield. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Carli Cummings and all proceeds benefit Presque Isle Partnership/Erie County Diabetes Association/Reyburn Sailing/Carli Cummings Scholarship Fund/Presque Isle lifeguards.
If you are swimming, enjoy. And spectators are welcome — it should be a gorgeous Presque Isle day.
