House lady tours novel home with a story

623 Howe Ave., Lawrence Park

This cute little Lawrence Park charmer sparked a book idea for its owner Mark Steensland and his wife. Read my full House to Home article here.

The home includes a lot of hidden spaces behind what appear to be built-in bookcases. The movable bookcases prompted Steensland to write “Behind the Bookcase,” a book that will be available for sale in October. The kids’ fantasy adventure tale takes the home’s residents behind the bookcases to some imaginary lands.

“It’s kind of scary, but fun and funny at the same time,” said the Steenslands’ son Ben, 11, as he conducted a teaser mini-tour of the house in a YouTube video — watch it here.

In addition to telling a story, this adorable 1,792-square-foot home is situated on two lots and boasts a lot of charm. It lists at $165,000. For more information, call Kathe Rafferty of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services at 833-1000.
