Millcreek Township had its Fourth of July parade today. The parade cruised along West 12th Street from Marshall Drive to Ford Avenue.
This year’s parade featured more than 120 units, including three local bands: Chrome, Jackson Station and the 4-Jays. My favorite was the marching bands from schools and my oldest son once skated in the parade for Erie Youth Hockey — he was a Mighty Duck — just in time for that popular movie to air.
This year, cats, dogs, horses and a camel were part of the fun.
It’s always noisy — sirens were always part of the event — scaring the babies and delighting the toddlers. This year, a cannon, stuffed with red, white and blue paper, added to the noise factor. You gotta love a cannon! Grand marshals were Cliff Moon, John Stoltz and Mark Wysocki.
