Wanted: Superintendent and assistant in Millcreek

wantedThe Millcreek Township School District is shopping for a new superintendent and assistant superintendent based on two ads that appeared in the Erie Times-News on Sunday, April 7.

It raises questions about who will do the hiring. Big questions. This is a district that has had five superintendents and five business managers in eight years.

Tonight, the Millcreek Township School District administration and board will layout plans for how to balance the $8.8 million deficit amid rumors that schools could close and extracurricular programs could be cut — along with staff and teachers. Erica Erwin’s story in the April 9 edition of the Erie Times-News says Ridgefield Elementary School, which has 271 students, and/or Vernondale Elementary School, with 245 students, could be on the chopping block.

Tonight’s special finance committee meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Grandview Elementary School, 4301 Lancaster Road.
