Reports in a Business Week article, an ABC video and countless other media outlets announced that New Hampshire will become the first state to have women in control of the governor’s office and the entire congressional delegation.

The Business Week article reports:

Democrats Carol Shea-Porter and Ann McLane Kuster defeated incumbent Republican men for seats in the House. Senators Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, and Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, were not up for reelection, and they remain in office. Governor-Elect Maggie Hassan, a Democratic state senator, will replace retiring Democrat Governor John Lynch.

Women have been breaking the glass ceiling in New Hampshire since 1975, according to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N. J. I remember the days when Erie had Judy Lynch as county executive, Joyce Savocchio as mayor and numerous women as county and city council members. A lot of eyes will be on New Hampshire come January.
