In golf for young men, Chris Kupniewski, 17, a senior at Northwestern Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy who plays golf for Strong Vincent, will try to become the first junior golfer to win three consecutive EDGA junior events. Other news in golf for ladies from the Erie Times-News: Gannon University has named Abby Sorensen its women’s golf coach. The Villa Maria Academy and Allegheny College graduate helped lead the Gators to their fifth consecutive top-10 finish at the NCAA Division III championships this past season.

A two-sport athlete at Villa Maria Academy in golf and softball, Sorensen helped lead the Victors golf team to a state runner-up finish in 2007.
