HTH_012613parker31Here’s an opportunity to see some very expensive homes — all in one afternoon. Read my full story here in House to Home. The picture here is from the million-dollar home on Manchester Farms Road.

I was lucky enough to see these homes with just a dusting of snow, and what a treat.

Dennis and Lorraine Dolan’s 1860s home at 550 Dutch Road once belonged to Spike and Kay Payne Spicer. Builder David Haller bought it in 2006 and remodeled the entire house. It has become a beautifully restored 4,400-square-foot residence listed at $699,000 with Kathe Rafferty of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.

Less than a mile away, a home at 6715 Manchester Farms Road is open to the public — a million dollar home built in 1994 by John and Bobbi Kozlowski. John Kozlowski, a builder who owned Bernard Brick, and Bobbi Kozlowski, an interior designer and former bakery owner, meticulously designed the 4,500-square-foot ranch that sits on 12 secluded acres. Kathe Rafferty lists this one at $1,125,000. We have a lot of other great stories — click on them below:

Our local columns include:

Small updates make big change – Sabrina Fischer shares an Erie home’s kitchen with a beautiful update — that preserved cabinetry and flooring.

HTH_011213parker2Today is a perfect day to look at houses. The snow is pretty much gone, and it’s going to be a warm 50+ degree weekend. One area of interest is the Walten Woods region of Harborcreek — just a ride out to this private community along the lake is worth the trip. Here’s a link to my cover story about a Howard Hanna listing.  Other links to home stories are listed below.

The view from 6790 Macoun Way, North East, Pa.

We share it all in today’s House to Home. First, the view from a North East home ought to sell it in a minute. Vineyards, farms and distant Lake Erie are part of the beauty that even clouds and rain can’t damage. Built by Jerry Cass, the 3,172 square-foot brick home  features maple woodwork, recessed lighting and incredible tile work throughout the space — on walls, floors and in bathrooms.
Get the whole story here.
See the home for yourself Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., or call  Phyllis Turner and Sanda Jarecki of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services who list the home at $410,000. Call Jarecki at 450-1886 or Turner at 434-7290 for more information.
Elephants in the flowerbed?
Yes there are — at Sue Scholz’s home, elephant head amaranth grow and they are very colorful. The flowers look like elephant heads with a trunk. They are even edible! Read all about it here.
