OrchidRadiant orchid is pretty much everywhere as the color of the year. How do you wear it? How don’t you wear it would be a better question. Purses, dresses, tops, bottoms, visors, hats, shoes, boots, jewelry, nails, lips — even lightbulbs and more. And if the Australian Open is any indicator, the color will hit workout clothes in a big way. Serena Williams, Samantha Stosur, Li Na, and Maria Sharapova are just a few of the women sporting radiant orchid — right down to the shoes in some cases.

Samantha Stosur and many other women tennis players are wearing orchid on the courts of the Australian Open as radiant orchid — the Pantone color of the year — makes it mark on fashion.

But don’t count out blue. Women not wearing orchid are wearing lots of blue. And so are the men.

Radiant orchid is everywhere. And it will add a pop of color to any outfit. I think I need new shoes and a new purse. shoes

nUNAILZZZWine shades with metallic stickers; olive and dusty green; spatter in green and gold; French tulip twist in olive green and emerald green; blue on azure blue; and dip dye with pink, blue and natural. These are nails we are talking about.

It’s all InStyle this month. My September InStyle magazine arrived with a hefty 720 pages in the mailbox last week, and it is full of awesome fashions. Here’s a peek at one of the funky nail styles available.  The new manis are works of art and blending colors in exciting styles! To see it all InStyle, click here. You can test out one of my favorite mags free for 30 days.

When I was young, you just painted your nails. Now, nails are colorful accessories for every outfit. Check in with any nail technician to see what’s new. I know DIY nail divas will give these looks a go, but I’m not that adventurous.

One reason is my early summer experiment with green polish. I stained my nails. green nails)They are still green, and I have had to cover them with dark reds and really deep pinks. Note to self — do not use that green stuff ever again.

I see a fall mani in my future. The dip-dye technique is so awesome!

shoesI’m not a flats kind of girl, but an e-mail spoke to me about “Earthing.”

The makers of Pluggz teased me about how good it feels to walk barefoot on grass or sand — they explained that it’s because we are in direct touch with nature  – Mother Earth.

We absorb energy, electrons that “ground” us — called Earthing. Well that caught my attention, so I visited the website and found  leather and linen ballet flats that have “pluggzproprietary” grounding technology, padded arches and heels with memory foam, moisture wicking, anti-microbial lining and trampoline heels for extra comfort and support. They retail for $129 per pair. I am hoping to get a free pair to try them out for everyone. They have a men’s version — flip flops.

White nails — they’re everywhereHuffington Post, Harper’s Bazaar and more. This photo is from InStyle. The white nails look pretty good and some folks add little decals, stickers and other adornments. Check it out in the latest edition of InStyle magazine. white nails
