Now what makes this a national holiday — pie —mmmm pie? Blueberries are good for us, according to National Day Calendar. Blueberries are low in calories, and they have a role in staving off cancer, regulating blood pressure, improving memory, reducing blood sugar and fighting off depression. What’s not to love?
Put them in pie, and voila! It’s almost healthy. Well, the pastry and sugar parts aren’t exactly healthy, but a treat is nice every so often. Like on a Monday. Or a Wednesday — which is National Oatmeal Cookie Day. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it was National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day on March 18. Hey — any day is a good day for oatmeal cookies. Or blueberry pie.
