MadisonFishFlops — cute name for some really cute sandals — a dream business for a Galveston, Texas teen named Madison Robinson. She has been so successful, she caught the attention of Forbes last year. Read it here. She designs flip flops and T-shirts for kids, women and men.
Fish abound on these cute clothing items. Most of her designs retail for under $30, and you can buy them at Macy’s and Nordstorm’s
Best of all, this teen has donated 20,000 pairs of shoes to various charities. Great ideas from a teenage girl.

sandalsI think this day was invented for me. I have been wearing open toed shoes for weeks. And sandals. And since there is a holiday related to this — check out holiday insights for more info –it’s nice to know today is a special day.

And it’s in May. And it is 53 degrees — not exactly balmy in some latitudes, but compared to the polar vortex we’ve experienced, this IS balmy!

These are my latest new sandals from DSW. I was possessed the day I went in there to buy them. I wasn’t leaving without sandals. I really wanted blue, but these are peachy. I just have to buy more pink to go with them on Fashion Friday!

If your feet aren’t ready for the light of day, I understand — been there. I got my pedicure last week, and it feels so good. But you can still honor today for a few minutes. Slip off those socks and enjoy the sun or clouds — just let them get some fresh air. When my kids were little, I would always pull their socks off at night and say, “Let those tootsies breathe!” I think that might have been my oldest’s first full sentence.

Free you feet today — even if it’s for a few minutes. And take a shoefie — Her Times fashionista Christine Eddy coined that term, and I love it.

froggie bootsThis week I found must-have rain boots and sandals — for the April showers and May flowers.

I really liked these boots at left, but then I discovered they were for kids. So I searched for them for women, and I found them. They are on sale at Bootshop for $49.95 on Amazon. There’s also a ladybug version — see below. They are a little childish looking, but I would wear them to shovel snow and garden, and they make me laugh just looking at them.

The kids’ versions are at Kohls for $32.99 — if I can get my feet into them I am buying them. And I have a granddaughter who must have these, but she might prefer the Minnie Mouse rain boots ($24.99) at Toys R Us.

ladybugminnieI am now being stalked by frogs, ladybugs and mice on every website I visit. In spite of that, I discovered some blingy sandals for $16.99 at Zulily – the sale ends in two days, and my size is gone. Never fear — Zulily has a lot more sandals in stock. Anyway, they all appear to have plenty of lily padding — haha! Happy Fashion Friday!
