Cute clutch from Trellis can be mongrammed!

It’s everywhere: Sunglasses, watches, necklaces, earrings – shoes and more. The tortoise print is particularly stunning when blended with turquoise. Michael Kors, Chanel and many more brands have introduced pieces in the pattern that has never really gone out of style. It’s at Trellis, department stores and just about everywhere.

I bought my daughter a cute necklace with a tortoise chain link chain and a pendant with an anchor on it. I wish I had bought two!

Take note — this is not real tortoise: many turtle and tortoise species are protected by a variety of endangered species laws. It’s usually a resin, but what a resin it is.

I know I had combs and other items with this look as a kid. It dresses up black and just about anything. These are some fun looks in a pattern that looks an awful lot like leopard. Purrr.

fredmonkees.comFORWEBCan any of us afford a little piece of Chanel? Well, I covet the buttons. And we can buy buttons. And it isn’t even Fashion Friday, yet.

First of all,  today’s blog resulted from my friend Susan McChesney posting a video on the classic Chanel jacket on her Facebook page. Then I Googled Chanel buttons and discovered the jewelry that has cropped up with Chanel buttons.  Here’s an article about it. Pieces are available for $200 to $390 — still not everyday pricing, but it is Chanel, vintage Chanel, at Monkee’s. A lot of sites offer Chanel buttons, but not everything is genuine, I am guessing.

Trellis in Erie, Pa., has a selection. So does Traditions Unlimited in Erie. Call them and a few vintage stores and ask — you might find some gems that will have you wearing Chanel.

In this week’s House to Home, we share a peek at Packard Manor Estate, which will be featured at length in Lake Erie LifeStyle tomorrow. Sandy Blazek of Trellis did the decorating, and Matt Kleck photographed.

We have numerous terrific stories! Click on the links in this paragraph to read a story on sheds — they are becoming everything from offices to living space — these aren’t your dad’s sheds. And you must see the incredible prefab homes that look like custom designs.
