Page 4-The Monarch Emerges
Just prior to the Monarch emerging you will see the color change.
When they emerge they will be all wet and have crumpled wings. Do not interfere. It takes time for them to open their wings and spread them. They won’t be able to fly until their wings are fully stretched and dried.
In the above video the Monarch is pumping its wings and drying them.
