U.S. Brig Niagara Seeks Volunteer Support; orientation is Jan. 26

If you’re age 16 or older, in healthy mental and physical condition and are interested in helping to preserve our local and national maritime heritage, you are invited to help sail the U.S. Brig Niagara this summer. An orientation for new volunteers will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Erie Maritime Museum, 150 E. Front St.

New volunteers are invited to attend a sail training course (at no cost), which includes hands-on training in the museum’s rigging loft and on the full-scale indoor model of Niagara’s Topgallant mast. The course begins with the orientation on Saturday, Jan. 26, and continues on the following Saturdays: Feb. 2, 9 and 23; March 9, 16 and 23; and April 6 and 20, and culminating with the first sail of the season on May 2.

For more information, call 452-2744, Ext. 214.
