Hospice of Crawford County to train new volunteers

Hospice of Crawford County will train new volunteers beginning Feb. 28.

Training will continue Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. through March 21 at Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville. Prospective volunteers should plan to attend all four sessions.

The mission of Hospice of Crawford County is to provide palliative care in a home-like setting to patients who are nearing the end of life. Volunteers are needed to sit with patients; cook, shop and do laundry for patients; and work at the new Marquette Hospice House. Volunteers can also help with office duties or represent Hospice of Crawford County in community events, such as the Conneaut Lake Park Pumpkinfest, Meadville’s Halloween Parade and the annual Bluegrass Festival.

To register for training, call hospice volunteer coordinator Barbara Mulligan, (814) 333-5403, and leave your name, address and telephone number. An application and registration forms will be mailed.
