Obama campaign launches new app for mobile phones

President Barack Obama’s campaign has launched a new smartphone app intended to provide a variety of information about the Obama For America’s re-election effort.
The app can be accessed here and is now available for iPhones. An Android version is coming in the next several days, according to the campaign.
An Obama For America press release calls the app “a cutting-edge smartphone app that will help empower supporters, volunteers, and voters. The new app… will bring key information and organizing tools directly to voters’ fingertips.”
The app can also help users locate local phone banks and volunteer events; to help people find out where, when and how to vote, as well as how to register friends, family members and neighbors to vote; and find details on what voters need to know about new voter ID laws in their state.
