Anderson, Wiley get endorsements

Here’s a rundown on recent endorsements in the state Senate race, 49th District, Erie County.

Janet Anderson, the Republican nominee, received the endorsement from Iron Workers Local Union 3. She is the only GOP candidate from the Erie delegation to receive the union’s endorsement.

“When we met with Janet, we quickly learned that she understands the importance of creating jobs that allow for workers to provide for their families,” Mark Thomas, Iron Workers Local Union 3 business manager, said in a statement.

Her opponent, Democrat Sean Wiley, has been endorsed by the Lake Erie Group of the Pennsylvania Sierra Club.

“The Sierra Club is confident that Wiley will be a champion in the fight to protect the health and well being of all his constitutents,” said Al Richardson, political chairman of the Lake Erie Group, in a statement.

The local Sierra Club chapter also endorsed state Reps. Patrick Harkins, D-1st Dist., and Flo Fabrizio, D-2nd Dist., in their re-election bids. They are unopposed Nov. 6.
