Erie County Council’s DiMattio to make campaign announcement Feb. 21
Erie County Councilman Edward T. DiMattio Jr., appointed to the job in December, will officially announce his candidacy for an elected four-year term on the panel Feb. 21 at the Wagon Wheel Family Restaurant in Waterford.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the restaurant, which is at the intersection of Routes 19 and 97 in Waterford. DiMattio, a Republican, previously told the Times-News that he would seek a full term as County Council’s 6th District representative.
The 6th District includes most of southern Erie County.County Council, at a special meeting Dec. 21, chose DiMattio, 50, from a number of candidates to serve for at least the remainder of jailed former councilman Ebert Beeman’s term, which expires in December.
Beeman’s replacement had to be a Republican who lives in the 6th District.
