Key township races on Erie County ballot

The race for Erie County executive  is expected to get much of the attention this spring.

But there are some interesting township races, including in Summit Township where three Democrats and one Republican are vying to replace Supervisor Marlin Coon, who isn’t seeking a fourth, six-year term.

Coon, a fixture in the township, is serving his 18th and final year before retiring.

The Democrats on the primary ballot are laborer Bob Greene, a laborer and road crew member with Greene Township; Realtor Sandra Zawistoski, a member of the township’s planning commission; and Jack F. Lee Jr., business manager for the local roofer’s union in Erie.

The Republican is Tony Davis, an inspection station owner.

In Fairview, there’s a battle for the seat being vacated by Fairview Supervisor Dave Carner, a Republican.

Five Republicans are seeking the job: Bryan Griswold, a sales manager; Realtor Thomas Gido; small-business owner Jim Summerville; electrician and heavy equipment operator Josh Ritchie; and accountant Mark Gennuso.

The primary is May 21.
