Kathy Dahlkemper, the Democratic nominee for Erie County executive, is among several former U.S. House members featured in a story in Politico.

The article tracks what’s become of some of the more than 50 Democrats who lost their congressional seats in the 2010 election.

Dahlkemper, of Erie, lost to U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, of Butler, R-3rd Dist., who’s now in his second term.

Dahlkemper, however, is undergoing a political rebirth after defeating incumbent County Executive Barry Grossman in the May 21 municipal primary. She is heavily favored over Republican nominee Don Tucci, a businessman from McKean, in the Nov. 5 general election.

The Politico story said that Dahlkemper settled for “running for a post that hardly smacks of glamour; Erie County executive.”

But Dahlkemper is quoted in the piece as saying she is excited about the opportunity.

“I’m going to have a much greater ability to affect change,” she told Politico.
