Catering to the teenager and the college kid, I am assuming, these jean are supposed to allow the wearer to go without washing them for months. When they get a bit stinky, all you have to do is to rub your nails across your them, and a whiff of tart raspberry will waft out. Scratch and sniff. The idea is the smell will override the stink. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
“The effect is created by coating the denim fabric with a special coating that contains mini microcapsules. The coating is applied and then baked into the denim. The tiny capsules have a bit of “perfume” inside and as you scratch them the scent is released.” That’s according to the company website.
Brought to us by Naked and Famous Denim, a Canada-based clothing manufacturer, this brand of jeans is available at high-end department stores such as Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus and Barney’s New York. Suggested retail cost is $150 a pair.
If fruit-smelling trousers aren’t your thing, how ’bout glow in the dark? The company makes those, too. Other than those wee hour of the morning strolls on the highway or the first day of hunting season, I’m not sure what the functionality of those are, save novelty.
