Yes, it’s true. We Americans have rated ourselves as the world’s worst tourists. That’s right. The French had nothing to do with it.

According to a poll conducted by Living Social, a lot of other countries agree with us, including our neighbors to the north and Australians.

However, the Irish think the Brits are the worst and the Brits think Germans take the dubious distinction.

Among the reasons we consider ourselves so bad is kleptomania–those surveyed admitted to stealing things other than the free toiletries in hotel rooms. Hotel towels was the number one graft.

But taking a closer look at the psychology behind those surveyed, an article on the MSNBC website points out that maybe it’s not that we are such bad tourists, but rather, we are just very honest.

The result is, as a nation, we are more self deprecating.
