Ever wonder what it feels like to be 75?

It’s an invention called the Age Man Suit, made in Germany and used by geriatrists there to teach young doctors in training what it’s like to be a patient when that time comes.

Along with simulating the aching joints, cumbersome restrictions to moving freely, heaviness of the body and problematic vision and hearing, the suit mirrors. most disturbing of all, the disconnect between mind and body–you know, wanting your body to do something only to have it say ‘no.’

Developing some compassion and understanding of the aging process is really the intent of the Age Man suit, and Germany has one of the largest populations of over 70-somethingths.

According to the blogger for The Local, a Germany-based, English newspaper, the suit is also used “by industrial designers seeking to better tailor their products to older clients, and has even been worn by actors in order to get into character for a play.”
