With the 65th anniversary of Roswell upon us, the topic of life on other planets is plentiful on the Internet. Roswell is the shortened reference to the Roswell UFO Incident. Though there isn’t a specific date, back in June or July of 1947, eyewitnesses claim that an extra-terrestrial spacecraft (or two) and its alien occupants crashed in the vicinity of Roswell, New Mexico. According to Wikipedia,
“On July 8, 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) public information officer Walter Haut in Roswell, New Mexico, issued a press release stating that personnel from the field’s 509th Bomb Group had recovered a crashed “flying disk” from a ranch near Roswell, sparking intense media interest. The following day, the press reported that Commanding General of the Eighth Air Force Roger M. Ramey stated that, in fact, a radar-tracking balloon had been recovered by the RAAF personnel, not a “flying disc.” A subsequent press conference was called, featuring debris said to be from the crashed object, which seemed to confirm the weather balloon description.”
It wasn’t until 30 years later, the topic actually made it to the top of the UFOlogists top 10, when one of the military personnel involved in the recovery came forward and said he believed there was a cover-up of the whole incident. The rest, as we say, is history.
Now 65 years later, others have come forward to say they have seen evidence of a coverup by the CIA, some of it located in a box in a concealed vault at Langley. The idea that the CIA would cover up something comes as no shock. The idea that the government wants to control access to information comes as no surprise. A coverup is nothing new in our history. None of this is eyebrow-raising in the least.
I don’t cotton to conspiracy theories in general, nor do I spend a lot of time researching speculative topics like whether human life exists elsewhere in the universe. I just assume it does because assuming it doesn’t, makes no sense to me and would require me to try and prove it. I also believe we have much more pressing problems on this planet that we as humans have created, and unless outer space aliens are going to chip in and lend a hand, I don’t have much use for them.
