Tim Tebow’s recent photo rankles sports fans

The fact that Tim Tebow, a second-string quarterback, made the cover of a national magazine as part of its kickoff issue, has already irked some folks. But when the magazine doctored up an old photo of the 25-year old professional athlete, showing him standing with arms outstretched and his legs crossed over, bare-chested with his head tilted down to one side, it sent up another wave of criticism altogether.

The pose, which some claim is eerily similarly to Jesus Christ on the cross, has Christians upset and at least one sports radio host, angry. WFAN’s Craig Carton, host of the WFAN sports radio show in New York City, called Tebow out, labeling him a narcissist and a fraud. It seems the devoutly religious football player seems to curry chatter no matter what he does. He has made no secret of his faith, which many find to be worth applauding while others call it grandstanding.

Perhaps more provocative is the GQ website headline: “Have You Accepted Tim Tebow as Your QB and Sunday Savior?”
