Heinz and Wounded Warriors

Those of us who don’t have family members in the armed services may sometimes overlook the efforts and personal sacrifices of those who do.

You may have read in today’s paper that Heinz is teaming up with Wounded Warriors in a promotion called “Our Turn to Serve.” The ketchup company will donate $1 when you send an online postcard to an active service member. Just click here.  And if you share the fact that you sent a card on your Facebook or you tweet about it as I did, Heinz will donate anther 57 cents. It’s kind of a win-win situation and pretty simple to do.

I became familiar with Wounded Warrior Project several years ago while working on a project of my own. Founded it 2003, the non-profit basically provides both short and long-term support for returning soldiers who are severely injured. It’s known for its signature fund-raising campaign of delivering backpacks full of supplies and other items to the bedsides of injured soldiers.

If you haven’t heard about the project, you owe it to yourself to check out the website and get inspired.
