Lady Gaga stands up for image acceptance

And she’s gained 25 pounds, not that it’s anyone’s business. I know I’d hate for the world to know when I gain weight, but then again, I’m not a big celeb.

But with that weight gain has come, of course, a lot of heat and tidal waves of negative feedback, as well as a enormous amount of teasing. We love to hate fat, don’t we?

While I’m not a huge fan of Gaga’s music, I do respect how she’s managed her career. And I also applaud any celebrity that uses his or her popularity to further worthwhile causes. Gaga’s weight gain has prompted her to promote everyone’s right to a positive body image.

I have heard it said that gaining weight is a sign of unhappiness. In Gaga’s case, according to today’s article, it’s a sign of her happiness. Why? Because the music superstar admits she has struggled with weight and image issues most of her life, feeling like she had to be skinny in order to accepted and to look good.

Makes her kind of like the rest of us, huh.
