Two area gymnasts, Mercyhurst Prep graduate Marie Case and McDowell graduate Stephanie Stoicovy, have qualified for the National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships.

Both will compete in NCAA Regionals on April 6.

Case, a junior, has qualified with her Kent State team for the Tuscaloosa Regional, which will be hosted by Alabama starting at 6 p.m. The regional team competition also will include Utah, Denver, Brigham Young and Iowa State.

Case won the all-around at the Mid-American Conference championships Saturday and was named MAC gymnast of the year for the second straight year. She won the award outright in 2012 and shared the award with another gymnast this year.

Stoicovy, a senior at George Washington, has qualified in the all-around for the Gainesville Regional, which Florida will host beginning at 6 p.m. In addition, Minnesota, Auburn, Maryland, Bridgeport and Pittsburgh will compete as teams. Individuals from GW, Towson and William & Mary also will compete.

Both Case and Stoicovy were standouts for Lakettes Gymnastics Academy.
