General McLane graduate Quinn Thompson will play tight end and wear No. 83 during his freshman season with the University of Connecticut football team.

The school recently posted the Huskies’ roster and Thompson’s bio on its website. Thompson is listed at 6 feet 4 inches, 222 pounds.

He played quarterback and defensive end during his senior season at McLane, but he will return to his natural position of tight end, which he played during his junior, sophomore and freshman years.

This is the sixth consecutive season that the Huskies have had a General McLane graduate on their roster. Blidi Wreh-Wilson redshirted for UConn in 2008 and played cornerback during the 2009-12 seasons. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the NFL Draft in April.

UConn will open the season Aug. 29 at home against Towson.
