Pitt wide receiver Devin Street recently represented the Panthers at their first ACC media day. According to a report by Panthers Digest, Street had reporters chuckling.
Street also talked about Pitt’s running back situation. Leading rusher Ray Graham is now with the Houston Texans and former freshman standout Rushel Shell has left the program. As we’ve reported in that past, that leaves an opening for young backs, including McDowell graduate James Conner, a freshman.
When asked about the running back spot, Street said, “Isaac Bennett is capable of running the ball. James Conner is another, he’s 6-2, 240. He can really run, has great vision. Malcolm Crockett is another great one.”
Conner is listed on Pitt’s roster as 230 pounds, but the idea is that he’s big and runs tough. That could lead to carries during his freshman season.
Conner ran for 1,680 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior with McDowell in 2012.
