Villa Maria graduate Kayla McBride has been traveling with the Notre Dame women’s basketball on a 10-day trip through Europe.

The Fighting Irish have combined sightseeing with basketball in England and Spain on a trip that will continue through Tuesday.

A Notre Dame travel party of 40 people, including 13 players, plannedĀ  visits to “Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament in London, to the La Sagrada Familia and Montjuic Hill in Barcelona, and on to the Museo del Prado and Gran Via in Madrid,” the Notre Dame website said.

As for basketball, the Irish have played two of their three scheduled exhibition games. They beat the French All-Stars 75-57 on Thursday at Pavelo El Moli in Lloret de Mar, Spain, after routing English Basketball League runner-up Barking Abbey 101-54 Tuesday night at Barking Abbey School in the London.

McBride, a 5-foot 11-inch All-America senior guard, scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 22 minutes against the French All-Stars. She played just three minutes against Barking Abbey after she was one of three seniors — along with forwards Natalie Achonwa and Ariel Braker — who were held out of the starting lineup because of a curfew violation.

McBride scored nine points in her three minutes of action late in the first quarter. (The exhibitions are being played under international rules.) Achonwa and Braker did not play in the game.

Notre Dame will play its final game of the trip Sunday against the French All-Stars at the Polideportivo Antonio Magarinos in Madrid. That game is closed to the public.
