Cathedral Prep graduates Damion Terry and Delton Williams are set to compete in their second scrimmage with the Michigan State football team today at Spartan Stadium.

The true freshmen fared well in the first scrimmage a week ago, but both are still attempting to show the coaching staff that they’re ready for playing time at key positions — Terry at quarterback and Williams at running back.

Coach Mark Dantonio mentioned Williams a couple of times when talking about the running back position Friday on the Michigan website:

“I’ve been really impressed with the two freshmen (Gerald Holmes, Delton Williams) that have been there as well,” he said. “No. 22 (Williams) and 24 (Holmes) have shown some Le’Veon Bell-like ability, those are true freshman, Williams and Gerald Holmes, but they need to be more consistent.”

Dantonio did not mention Terry in preparation for the scrimmage. However, he did talk about the progress of returning starter Andrew Maxwell, along with young returnees Connor Cook and Tyler O’Connor.

Some online reports have speculated that Terry would redshirt this season, but Dantonio has not confirmed that.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten Network will broadcast its Michigan State preview today at 8 p.m.
