Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said late last week that he planned to share information with his players today about his team’s “four-horse race” at quarterback spot. He planned to tell the media Tuesday.
Dantonio has four quarterbacks who are closely matched, and although many MSU watchers have figured that senior Andrew Maxwell would be the starter for the season, Cathedral Prep graduate Damion Terry complicated the situation recently with 280 totals yards and three touchdown passes in a scrimmage.
With that in mind, the On Campus blog polled readers for the past four days about what the MSU coaching staff will – and should — do with Terry. Like the MSU coaching staff, readers found no consensus. However, “Redshirt him” did earn the most votes in each poll. Granted, it was a small sample size. Also, “Start him” placed a close second with 31 percent to “Redshirt him” with 36 percent in the “should” poll.
Update: Because of a technical glitch, fans continued voting in the Terry polls after we had seemingly closed them. In the later voting, “Redshirt him” moved into a bigger lead in the “will” poll. Meanwhile, “Start him” and Redshirt him” are now tied for the top spot in the “should” poll.
Here’s a look at the poll results:
