After getting solid reviews from his Pitt debut, McDowell graduate James Conner should be an interesting player to follow over the next week and a half.

Conner rushed nine times for 34 yards in his first college game Monday as the Panthers lost to No. 11 Florida State 41-13. Conner, a 6-foot 2-inch, 230-pound true freshman, ran with power and quickness. However, his role was somewhat limited after Pitt’s second possession of the game because the Panthers were playing from behind.

Conner and Pitt return to action Sept. 14 at Heinz Field against New Mexico. It would be interesting to see what kind of damage Conner could do with 15 carries against the Lobos.

Read what Conner had to say in the Erie Times-News game story Monday and a follow-up story today.

Check out a Pitt video of the postgame interview below.
