Pitt’s opponent has lost its head coach about two weeks before the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

Dave Clawson, who led Bowling Green to a 10-3 record, has accepted the Wake Forest coaching position. Clawson was expected to be introduced as the Wake Forest coach today.

Interim coach Adam Scheier, the former special teams coordinator, will lead the Falcons against the Panthers (6-6) on Dec. 26 in Detroit.

Bowling Green is coming off an upset of previously unbeaten Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference championship game Friday.

Pitt, which spent its first season in the ACC, closed the regular season with a 41-31 loss to Miami on Nov. 29.
