Cathedral Prep’s talented senior class, which led the Ramblers to 28 consecutive victories over two seasons, continues to lure college recruiters.
Prep will be a busy place on National Letter of Intent Day on Feb. 5 after seven Ramblers have verbally committed to play for Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A), Football Championship Subdivision (Division I-AA) or Division II programs.
Two Ramblers accepted full rides to PSAC colleges, Prep announced Monday night. Two-way lineman Devonne Barnes will play on the defensive line at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and J.T. Joint will play linebacker at Slippery Rock. Prep announced that another lineman, Caleb Futscher, will play at Lake Erie College.
They join four earlier standouts who committed. Defensive backs Felix Manus-Schell (Old Dominion) and Marlon Tyree (Bowling Green) picked their schools before their senior seasons. Running back Jake DeHart (Yale) and wide receiver Alex Greenawalt (Colgate) committed to schools after the season.
Six Prep players were selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers’ all-state team, and nine were honored by Pennsylvania Football News following a 13-1 season during which the Ramblers reached the PIAA Class AAA semifinals.
