Defensive backs take the field in the NFL scouting combine today at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and that brings back memories from 2013.

General McLane graduate Blidi Wreh-Wilson participated in last year’s combine, and he fared well. Wreh-Wilson, of course, performed strongly off the field at the combine because he’s a smart man who earned two degrees at UConn.

On the field, he ran an official 40-yard dash time of 4.53 seconds, but he ran 4.47 in the first of his two times.

Meanwhile, he recorded a 36-inch vertical jump and a 128-inch broad jump and had solid times in the three-cone drill (6.97 seconds), 20-yard shuttle (4.12) and 60-yard shuttle (11.56). He had 14 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

The Tennessee Titans  eventually drafted Wreh-Wilson in the third round with the 70th overall pick. He went on to have a solid rookie season, playing on special teams all year before seeing an increasingly greater role in the defensive backfield during the later weeks of the season.

Here are some other On Campus blog posts about Wreh-Wilson at the combine.

No area athletes were invited to this year’s combine.
