In a season of honors, Marie Case added a couple more this weekend with the Kent State gymnastics team.

Case, Mercyhurst Prep graduate and former Lakettes Academy star, was named Central Region Co-Gymnast of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women on Saturday. She shared the honor with LSU standout Rheagan Courville.

The honor came after Case earned a spot in the all-around at the NCAA National Championships April 18-20 in Birmingham, Ala.

“What an incredible honor it is for Marie to be awarded with this (NACGC/W Co-Gymnast of the Year).” Kent State coach Brice Biggin said Saturday night after Case tied for fifth in the all-around (39.325) at the Baton Rouge Regional. “Having her tie with Rheagan Courville for the award is great; they are both great gymnasts as they both put on a great show today.”
