Villa Maria graduate Kayla McBride has had quite a week.

First, the former Notre Dame guard was selected by the San Antonio Stars with the No. 3 overall pick in Monday’s WNBA Draft in Uncasville, Conn.

Next, she took an overnight flight from Connecticut to San Antonio to meet with her team. She also made several media appearances, including an interview on the “San Antonio Living” TV show. (See video above at about 2:30 mark.)

Then she met San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson before being introduced during the first quarter of the Spurs-Los Angeles Lakers game Wednesday night.

How big was her week? Her Twitter handle “kaymac” was trending on Twitter in San Antonio.

Then, she headed back to South Bend and Notre Dame, where she is completing her senior year.

Coming up: She will get ready for training camp. The Stars will play their first exhibition game May 2 and will open the season May 16. They will play their home opener May 17.

Read this McBride story by Ken Rodriguez, which was posted to the Spurs’ website. Also, check out this question-and-answer video with the Stars.
