Erie’s Kayla McBride is now a pro basketball player in the WNBA, but she still graduated from Notre Dame this past weekend.
McBride, a Villa Maria graduate, has been an extremely busy person since being drafted No. 3 overall by the San Antonio Stars on April 14. She’s flown back and forth between South Bend and San Antonio while practicing with the Stars and completing her studies. She also has flown to preseason and regular-season games from Atlanta to Tulsa.
McBride made her WNBA debut Friday, scoring 6 points in a San Antonio loss. She then scored 11 points in a Stars win Saturday night.
On Sunday, she took part in graduation ceremonies in South Bend surrounded by her family. She received her marketing degree from the Mendoza College of Business.
Here’s one of her tweets:
Officially have the closure I needed. I’m a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Couldn’t be… http://t.co/M6qBK72H6m

Her sister, Karlee, posted the above Instagram photo on her Facebook page. Karlee McBride, also a Villa grad, is a freshman guard at Indiana University.
Congrats to McBride on her graduation.
