Number of the day: 33
The No. 33 was worn by a couple of Cathedral Prep defensive back greats while they were in college.
Bob Sanders wore 33 while he was blowing up ball carriers with Iowa in the early 200os.
Mark Tate wore 33 while playing cornerback for Penn State in the mid-1990s. Sanders, of course, was one of Iowa’s all-time greats.
He eventually was an All-Pro with the Indianapolis Colts and was selected as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year after the 2007 season.
Tate was a four-year letterman and two-year start for the Nittany Lions from 1993-96. He was a member of the New England Patriots practice squad during the 1997 season.
