A pair of prominent Erie County players with the jersey No. 22 are in the spotlight today in College Kickoff Countdown .
Milne, of course, was a great comeback story at Penn State. After starring as a LeBoeuf junior with more than 2,400 rushing yards, he sat out his senior season while battling cancer. Following an inspiring return performance in the 1991 Save-An-Eye Game, Milne went on to a solid career with the Nittany Lions.
Milne played in 33 games as mostly a blocking fullback with Penn State from 1993-95. He did, however, score 16 career touchdowns, including a high of eight in 1994. He compiled a career-high 267 yards that season on his way to 512 career rushing yards. He averaged a solid 4.5 yards per carry in his career. He added 229 career receiving yards.
The 6-foot 2-inch, 255-pound Milne later played five seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Cincinnati Bengals. He also played with the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.
• Williams starred for Prep’s 2012 PIAA Class AAA championship team and is currently a sophomore at Michigan State.
The 6-foot 1-inch, 228-pound running back rushed for 238 yards on 38 carries as a freshman with the Spartans in 2013. He also scored on a 42-yard TD run against Illinois.
Williams is currently listed as the No. 3 running back on the Michigan State depth chart.
