Number of the day: 16
That’s the number of seasons that Erie native Rick Kaczenski has served as a college coach. Kaczenski, currently in his third season as Nebraska’s defensive line coach, was a Cathedral Prep and Notre Dame standout during his playing career.
He was a star tight end with the Ramblers in the early 1990s. At Notre Dame, he switched to center, playing in 40 games and starting his final three seasons from 1995 to 1997.
After a year with the Prep staff in 1998, he has had coaching stops at South Carolina, South Carolina State, East Tennessee State, Elon and Iowa before joining the Cornhuskers.
